Alice Charland is originally from Carlisle PA. She began studying piano at the age of 6 and voice at the age of 14. Throughout her upbringing, Alice participated in various musical groups well known in the area such as the Susquehanna Youth and Children’s Choral as well as PMTA and PMEA festivals. After high school, Alice went on to study Music Education at Pen State with an emphasis in voice and completed her education by student teaching in Cumberland Valley School district. After the completion of her degree, Alice moved to NC where she took a position teaching k-5 general music at an inner-city Charlotte school. Here she enjoyed teaching children to sing, dance, and play classroom instruments such as the recorder, xylophones, and rhythm instruments. She also lead the children in putting on mini musicals. After teaching here for 3 years, she moved up to the greater Boston area and taught k-5 general music and middle school chorus. In addition to her two public school teaching experiences, Alice has taught private piano lessons for 12 years, and preschool music classes for 3 years. She also lead children’s music at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, and lead vocalist at the Life Teen mass (contemporary) at Good Shephard Catholic Church on a weekly basis. Additionally she holds an orff-schulwerk level 1 certification and a valid PA teaching license.
