Sally comes from a passionately musical family. Performing since she was a young child, Sally has been singing her whole life and picked up nearly every instrument she could get her hands on growing up.
She began her formal musical training on piano at the age of five and studied under the tutelage of Debra Nicodemus for 13 years. With a solid and long-standing background in music, Sally entered Wagner College’s theatre program as a performance major. While at Wagner, she honed her previous experience acting into a true craft and utilizes that education for complete performance training in her teaching. Sally was also lovingly known as the “musical” theatre major while at WCT, known for her natural ear for difficult harmonies and extensive musical knowledge. She considers herself something of a harmony hound.
Sally studied classical and music theatre voice throughout high school, college and beyond, spending over two years working with Broadway composer and lyricist, Richard Adler. Under his wing, she was given the opportunity to work with and perform for some of the biggest names in NYC and Broadway and counts Adler as one of the major positive influences of her career.
After returning to Harrisburg, Sally began working in high school musical theatre, assistant directing, directing and music directing for the past 10 years. She believes in the power that music and the performing arts has not only for the performers she has nurtured over the years, but also as a great educational and life tool for those students she has worked with. She also works as resident music director and performer with the Bare Bones Theatre Ensemble and is lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the band Happy Sally.
