Ryan Wakefield
Title: Saxophone, Flute, & Clarinet Instructor Genres: Classical, Jazz & Contemporary Skill Level: Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Education: BA in Music from Pennsylvania State University BIO: Ryan Wakefield is a native of the central Pennsylvania area. His musical education started early with piano lessons from Iris Fuller, saxophone lessons with J. Fred Quigley (retired member of the US Army Field Band and Jazz Ambassadors), and the music faculty at the Cumberland Valley School District. Ryan started his college level music studies at Rowan University, taking lessons from Denis DiBlasio, John Guida, and Tony Salicondro. He finished his undergraduate education at Penn State, studying with Dan Yoder and working with Beth Burrier in the theatre department. After graduating in 2012, Ryan started teaching private lessons in central PA. In 2013, Ryan started working full-time aboard cruise ships, where he performed with various guest entertainers, played Las Vegas style production shows, playing everything from jazz and rock n’ roll to opera and Dixieland swing. Between 2013 and 2017, Ryan has visited over 58 different countries and performed with musicians from all over the world. Ryan has settled back into the central PA area and is excited to build up a private lessons studio once again. In addition to performing, Ryan has created multiple method books for saxophone, flute, and clarinet, written articles featured on BestSaxophoneWebsiteEver.com, and studied extensively the topic of music psychology.
