The founding teachers already have an active private lesson student base, but resources are needed to increase opportunities and include under-served populations.  With funding for the new facility and programs, the Keystone Musical Arts Center will be able to provide all of the following services at a consistently high level to the entire community:

  • Private lessons
  • Group classes
  • Ensembles
  • Vocal groups
  • Homeschool classes and curriculum
  • Summer camps
  • Workshops and master classes
  • Recitals and performances
  • Music for the very young
  • Adult Music Program
  • Music Therapy
  • Programs for other charitable organizations
  • Additional educational opportunities through internships & volunteer programs

       
Does south central PA need the Keystone Musical Arts Center?
 
YES!
 
  • Our programs provide opportunities that do not exist elsewhere in south central PA.
  • Various local social service organizations have already reached out to us for assistance in creating or providing programs for their clients.
  • Home and cyber school students have limited access to music programs designed for them.  KMAC is committed to filling this need.
  • Music Therapy continues to grow as more people understand its value to the mentally challenged, especially with autistic children.  We will offer a sound-proofed environment in which families dealing with such issues can feel welcomed and safe.
  • No other teaching facility in the area focuses on experiential music education like KMAC.
  • We are the area’s only nonprofit school of music within an hour’s drive that has a contemporary ensemble program and an emphasis on self-expression through improvisation and composition.
  • Our student bands are available to perform at business events and civic occasions.
  • Adults looking to learn or get back into music need us.
  • Regional arts organizations always need more support.  KMAC intends to work with the Susquehanna Folk Music Society, the Central PA Friends of Jazz, the Blues Society of Central PA and the Harrisburg Symphony to support their efforts while exposing our students and families to a wider variety of music.
  • Few, if any, scholarships are available for students to take private lessons or to be involved in other music activities outside of school.  A number of needs-based scholarships will be available from KMAC once the new facility is open.
  • We will have a positive effect on the economy in a number of ways, not just to the other businesses near us but also to the region when we bring in national artists for workshops.
  • Our students learn valuable life skills that make them better community members.

The Staff

The founding teachers are music instructors with varied and impressive backgrounds - Alumni of prestigious music schools, former school teachers with membership and leadership in their professional organizations, award-winning singer/songwriters, published authors and even a national recording artist with platinum records.  The director is a former NYC studio manager, radio promoter and manager of national recording artists whose most recent position at another music school proved that his background in the music business has prepared him well for this role in music education management.
